Miguel Rodriguez "Church Door" Guitar

One of the great joys of being a classical guitarist is playing my "Church Door" guitar made by the brilliant luthier of Cordoba, Miguel Rodriguez.  I first heard one of these magnificent instruments played by Pepe Romero at a guitar convention in Texas in the late 70s.  I knew immediately that there was something about the sound that I was irresistibly drawn to.  I asked the importer George Dauphinais of Springfield Illinois to please notify me if he ever had a Miguel Rodriguez come through his hands.  A couple of years later he called me and said he had three in his shop.  My wife and I raced over there and I ended up buying the one I still play now.  That was 1981.  Sadly, Miguel Rodriguez is now deceased and the shop is closed.                                                                                                            Sulaiman Zai 2005

John Greven Guitars

I own three guitars by the superb world class luthier John Greven.  You can hear one of his instruments on track 12 of my recording called ALASKAN BLUE.  I feel a debt of gratitude to him for his wonderful work and his support of  mine.  Thanks John!
